Default Heater.

My heater isn't working. I can hear the heater mecanism trying to work but the valve must be stuck shut. Where is it located so i can free it up again?

From my own poking around the other day, most of the heater stuff is located behind the glovebox. Just remove the three screws underneath the glovebox and slide out the protective cover, and there is the heater blower motor, the resistor pack (which quite often dies - ?22 from Toyota), and the plenum/airducting.

OK, I've found the servo unit that adjusts the heater. It seems to be working as normal. Any ideas on why i have no heat?

Checked that all the hoses run into the heater matrix and arent blocked? Thermostat not opening maybe? Are you getting the 'cappucino machine' sounds behind the dash?

Your control panel may have also bit the dust. They have been known to go bad from time to time. Is it blowing any air at all? Can you hear the fan when you put it on any of the three speeds? There may be a fuse for that stuff too.

If heat comes out of the vents, but only when driving along, then i suggest that it may be the resistor pack. Its mounted inside the ducting, secured by a single screw with a 6-pin plug going to it. Unplug it and take it out. If its dead, then Toyota still sells them, but if only one coil has gone - then you may be able to repair it. If that still doesnt work, i can only surmise that the control panel has indeed died, or has loose/faulty contacts - in which case, i'll be looking for one myself if the resistor pack i just ordered doesnt work!

there is a valve on the firewall i'll take pictures in a few minutes and post
it's a common problem
once you by-pass the valve you'll have heat

The "low" speed on mine doesn't seem to do anything, what can I do to fix it?
