I have just bought an 88 Turbo, and will be picking your expert brains on some items. First I have oil in the intake tubes and the intake side of the turbo. I have not totally taken off the turbo so I do not know what the exhaust side of the turbo looks like. The oil how ever does not look like it has gone through any burning stage. In checking the shaft of the turbo, I can feel about 1/16-1/8 inch of side play. No play front to back. Under heavy excelleration I see the boost gage stay on -4 then it will pop up to +2 like the gauge needle was sticking. Total amount of boost is about +6. Wondering if I am going to need to rebuild the turbo. If so I have found a kit for $150 from Four Corners Performance Turbo on Ebay. Any input you guys and ladies have would be helpful.

hmmm can you by any chance put the same measurement in mm lol
i have no comprehension of inches as i was bought up in metric hehe if you believe it needs to be rebuilt i woudl spend the extra few hundred dollars and upgrade the turbo to a to4 wheel... probly 46 trim would be a good choice... are you after power or daily driving? what is your boost measurements... are they in psi? does the car stutter at all.. idle strange? any check engine light?
