spark plug change
Well I'm not too mechanically inclined......so I was just wondering exactly how hard is it to change the spark plugs on a supra. I've done it before on other cars but they were all 4 cylinders and my friends tell me its a lot harder with 6 cylinder cars. So I was just wondering exactly what it is I would need to do to change them and whether or not it would be easier to take it to a shop to do. Thanks.

Get your hands wet. If you are scared, unfamiliar, or just need to feel more confident; take pictures of things as you take them apart. I do that a lot on things that I don't know too well. Quote:
It is not that there are more cylinders, but the fact that there are things that have to be taken out to give you access to the plugs. Quote:
Here is what the Toyota Service Repair Manual states for this operation: http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/librar.../ma/MA_07.html From what I have read on the forums, Autolite spark plugs are not only cheap, but work great for our cars. Now go get your hands wet/dirty! |

I was told this rule of thumb by a very good mechanic many many years ago...
For American cars, buy american plugs...Motorcraft, AC Delco, etc For Japanese cars buy Jap plugs...NGK, Nippondenso, etc For European cars buy european plugs, Bosche, umm...more Bosche Ive probably owned twice as many vehicles as most of you are in years (well over 40 last time I counted), and Ive always followed this rule of thumb and it has always worked for me...
