Default Antenna Replacement

Grrr!! I just went out in the car park and found out that my car has been trashed by vandals - i have four flat tyres, the supra badge on the front has been pulled off and the antenna has been snapped off.

The tyres can be re-inflated and the badge isnt a major issue - some double sided tape will see to that, but the antenna is a loss. Can i get just the replacement telescopic thing, or do i have to have a whole new motorised unit? Cause i'm rapidly running out of funds

Sorry to hear about the vandals... Who would want to mess up a Supra!? They must have been jelous .

I would also like to know as my actual antenna is busted.. The anetnna motor seems to work fine.. I found some complete replacements but they cost more than $200!!

Thats horrible that someone would do that to a car, let alone a SUPRA! ugh, people these days piss me off.

my antenna was broken a long time ago, i just bought one from ebay, the whole motor and everything. cost me like $40 or something. easy to replace, took me about 30mins

Well, Currie Motors (Toyota Dealership) said i could replace the mast on its own for ?17, so i ordered one. Apparrently, its easy enough to do, but there are no actual instructions on how to do it.

Oh and the reason the car was vandalised, is probably because I got 2 people in one of the flats here arrested for criminal damage (they threw a fire extinguisher through our kitchen window 'for a laugh'). That, or yeah, i have a nicer car than anyone else!

Well, I had an after marketone one for a little while.
Had to buy it while me and the Supe were 1700 miles from home.

From memory, don't you just have to unscrew the bezel that is at the base of the antenna?
I know you definitely have to do that, but I don't remember if there is something else that needs to be done.

If there is more to it than that, all you have to do is feel for whatever else at the inside of the quarter panel.
You do know how to get to the area inside the car that holds the motor part of the antenna, right?

I'll give it a go in about an hour, its one of those occasions where you really wish you had a Haynes manual for this car! Can you get one for the Supra, i didnt think you could :S

Cool

Aaah-hah! Replacement of the telescopic bit was remarkably easy - now all i have to do, is wait until tuesday when the spool & cord arrive, and then it'll be all systems go again

Needle nose pliers.
Open up the pliers and set them in the notches in the bezel and turn.
I have done that for watches as well (to open up watches that have a spinning back plate).

I changed my antenna a couple of times...same for the speakers and the deck. heheh
