need help: wire coming off A/C compressor - to?
1986.6 Supra Targa (non-turbo)
My A/C was not working when I got this car. I discovered that the magnetic clutch on the A/C compressor was not hooked to anything, there is just a broken wire hanging off of it. I can not find where this hooks to. I found the information that this wire goes to the magnectic clutch relay, and there is normally a connector on the end of this wire (though I dont know what the connector should look like as mine is gone) Can some kind helpful soul please go look on their car and if possible take a picture of the connector? Also if you could note where it plugs in, and what the color of the wire is that this plugs into for me? I do have a wiring diagram from an online manual but it doesnt show wire colors or the location of the relay. Any information would be helpful. Thanks |

I think there is a relay under the engine bay fuse block. But mine is hooked up to that, and it still doesnt engage when the AC is on. So you might just have to get a new relay too.

I unbolted the engine bay fuse block and found nothing underneath it that looked like a relay. Closest thing I see is, bolted to the fender there looks to be two metal relay looking devices. they are permanently attached to a metal bracket that bolts to the inner fender. I looked at those and they both seem to already have some wires going to them and no place to plug this in...but I'll take another look

It is under the fuse box behind battery
I havn't done any work on my AC system I have a mechanic who does that stuff but I shot 2 photos which are attatched. The wire from the clutch goes to a connector which has 2 blue wires that go under the fuse/relay block.
I didnt unbolt that so I don't know where they go from there. Hope the photos help. Last edited by f00g00; 05-17-2006 at 08:12 PM. |
