What sending unit is this?

On the 7MGTE's thermostat housing there are 3 sending units. The top one is the BVSV with 2 vacuum hoses going to it and there are 2 other ones below it with a 1 wire connector on them. What is the middle one for? The one that is completely inline with the top radiator hose. What is the bottom one for? I know on the engine side of the thermostat housing has the cold start injector time switch and the ECT sendor. Im guessing the bottom one is the temp gauge sending unit, but what does the middle one do?

Second time in a row I have linked to Bishop's site.

Go to the bottom of this page and click on the "Straight on view of the engine bay" and you will get a picture of everything labeled.

Ok on the Left side engine view its labeled #8 but the pic stops loading and it still doesnt tell me what #8 is. Or the sensor below #8, which is not even labeled.

TSRM and haynes do not show these sensors. Anybody have a clue?

Edit: who ever wrote that site said "it took me 10 hours to remove the turbo the first time, now I can do it in an hour."

I removed mine in an hour the first time.

This is the middle sensor on the thermostat housing that I took out of my car with a 17mm socket.

Temp guage?

On the NA its the temp guage sensor by the looks of it.

Yep thats what both manuals say, yet it is obviously out of my car yet the stock gauge is still functioning perfectly normal.

I put an aftermarket sending unit in its place, if your wondering.

i believe both of the sensors on the front of the thermostat housing are for air conditioning :) the temp sensors are in the back part of the thermo housing
