crooked tow truck companies
as most fo you know, my car was stolen about a month ago. well the cops found it on saturday and it was towed to a so called impound yard.
well i went to get it today and the toothless imbred redneck tow truck guy tells me that i owe them $365. it was $256 for a tow when they found my car 5 miles from my house. then a $70 fee when the car went through the gate of their compound then a $35 a day storage fee. on top of it they said if i dont get the car tomorrow then they are putting a lien on it along with a $70 lien charge for having to do the paperwork and if i dont get it within 30 days it will be auctioned off for $1800. the car doesn't have rims and tires. they stole the nitrous bottle but left the nitrous kit. they stole the boost guage and left all the innercooler piping, blow off valve and all the turbo stuff and exhaust. here is the real kicker, they must have been enviromentally concious because they stole the adjustable fuel pressure regulator but left the steel braded lines and instead of letting them hang, they took their time to actually screw them together so they wouldn't leak fuel. so what fun. |

Well I know how you feel, I used to work for a tow company and know what your talking about. It does suck..
If the police contacted the tow company to impound your car then the tow company (at least in my state) is required to charge a fixed hourly rate ($95.00ph in 1995) that starts adding up from when they receive the call until they drop the car and finish their paperwork at the impound lot of their choosing.. This can be many hours at 95$ per hour... The $35 a day storage is a poor incentive for people to get their car back quicker..Often makes it impossible to get your car back at all... I know none of this is helpful but I figured I would try to explain it some. |

I would break in and steal it back! They sound like crooks so why not treat them the way they treat you? Just dreaming, I know it isn't the wisest thing to do, but it makes you mad enough though to think about it.

but i got one question: how is he gonna steal back his car if it doesnt have wheels? he needs another tow truck, which will start a never ending cycle of hiring tow trucks ,not being to pay them, and then stealing a car again, and you get what i mean

I agree with Supra2NR, You will only make things much, much worse by trying to steal it back..
My advice would be to contact the owner of the tow truck company (not the schmuck driving the tow truck or working the lot) directly and offer to pay for the initial impound and see if they will freeze and waive the storage fees for you... They just want to be compensated for their time, fuel, drivers pay, ect, ect. Do not make threats to them or they will not be willing to help at all, imo. What kind of insurance did you have on the car at the time of the theft? It may be worth contacting them about this deal... Last edited by joel williams; 06-13-2006 at 08:28 PM. Do you expect the tow company to tow your car and store it for free? They're running a business. Try contacting your insurance company?

I was just giving my wishful thinking idea. I would not endorse anyone trying this in there own home. You just have to do like the movie Liar Liar and take it up the ass like a man and not complain because they have you by the scrotes. Yes they are in business to make a living but does it have to be all at once!
