Divorced downpipes, and more!
Hey guys.
I had some questions about divorced downpipes. It says in the description that it gets LOUD at WOT.. How loud is LOUD? My car is my daily driver, so I would like to know what LOUD is. If you could compare it to another LOUD sound that would be nice . Anyone have any experience with these? They also say that it will increase your psi to 13-14psi.. Umm is that possible without a boost controller? That's also pretty close to the fuel cut off (around 14psi if i remember correctly). Thanks. Last edited by Reeves; 06-19-2006 at 07:31 PM. |

I had another unrelated question and I didn't want to make another topic. I wont have my car for another week so I can't check on this myself..
I was wondering if it's possible to replace the stock boost gauge with an aftermarket boost gauge in the stock location. If so what size gauge would I need? Thanks |

hmmm well.. yes it's loud lol
have you heard a car with an external wastegate? it's fairly similar to that and by upgrading your exhaust it will increase boost a fair bit and you'll have to ask the locals about replacing your gauge as here we have mostly digital dashes

Having taken my dash apart more times in the last week than care to admit I would have to say no way. There is no boost gauge that I know of that is shallow enough to fit the stock location without serious mods.

Thanks supra girl. Im just going to have to go with a regular 3" downpipe. And thanks weezle for your help, too.
I have some more questions, and once again, I don't feel like making a new topic!! Only so I don't clutter the forum, though. First of all how much psi can a stock ct-26 handle reliably (without causing any damage to the turbo)? Second Im curious as to how much horsepower you guys think I should get out of the following mods, and if there is anything else I would need (like fuel pump, injectors, etc) to make my car run well/reliably with these mods. The mods are: Full exhaust (3" downpipe and 3" cat-back exhaust), apexi intake, and 13 psi from turbo(with manual BC). Would it matter what order I did these mods in (like exhaust before more psi)? And that's it, everything else is stock, except for my awesome air freshener. Also is there any limit to how much horsepower the ct-26 can take? I already have a 2.0mm MHG with ARP studs, so im good there. I just want to cover all my bases with you guys before I do anything. Oh yah and 1 more thing.. With so many boost gauges out there, I don't know what to pick!! Any suggestions (what do you guys use )? ok you got a good jump with the hg and arp bolts and air freshener. ct26 is effient up to about 12-13psi then it just creates too much friction/heat. i dont think it really matters which mod you do first, but id recommend replacing the stock turbo elbo and dp first. difference between mech and electric gauges (correct if wrong) are mech have moving parts as to where the electric has wires and sensors. id prefer the electric becuase they dont have moving parts, hence less chance of jamming, breaking, etc. and yes ppl have replaced their stock boost gauge with a little modification http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8690

Thanks alot for the help! Actually the downpipe/elbow was the first thing I was planning on upgrading =D. So will my car be able to handle all the mod's i listed without having to do any other upgrades?

i think it would be ok but you might want to eventually get the car tuned so it doesnt run rich/lean. if it were on my car i wouldnt think it couldnt handle it but, im gonna say do some more research or maybe someone else will say. to put it simply, i dont know

Sounds like something I wan't to get into. Any little thing I can do to tune my car to make sure it's running perfect is what I will do. The only thing is I don't know how, yet . What can I do to tune it? I have heard about wideband gauges, but that's all I know.. Don't even know if that is what I need.
If you could just point me into the right direction so that I know where to research this stuff, then that would be great! Thanks |

I was just gona put the NA voltmeter in there and put a boost gauge somewhere hidden like under/next to the steering wheel. And will those DPs bolt onto the stock exhaust system and turbo?
