Turn the bad into good

Unfortunately, my 1990 supra turbo is about to throw a rod. So I figured this would be the perfect time to tear into the engine and upgrade. The car is stock and I want to reach 450 to 500hp as a daily driver. I was wondering what upgrades would be best to reach my goal and what my approximate costs would be. Also, the car has 145,000 miles on it and I was wondering what else should be replaced while the engine is out of the chassis.
