Buy a head unit and dash kit...As for the speakers, the fronts, 5 1/4" fit with some force, I dont know the real size thou. And the backs the speakers are 5 inch, But they dont make 5 inch speakers, But you can buy or make brackets to use 4 inch speakers, Or cut the holes to make 5 1/4" speakers fit. Theres plenty of room in the back for subs and amps, So your wallet is really the limit. I use circuit city or crutchfield.com, Bot are good. Circuit citys protection plan is awesome, they just replace it, no questions asked. Problem is, sometimes stuff runs out of stock, so what they do is offer you a) get upgraded replacements and cancel your pro plan or B) keep the plan and pay fpr the upgrades.

for your 87 Fronts are 4's unless you modify the boxes. Rears fit 4's without mods if your original speakers are there because there is a "gasket" of some description that will seal the edges of a 4 to the box.
I put a box in the back that fits between the shock towers and fires the subs into the rear seats.

I put a new headunit in the front of my car, a Kenwood KDC-5028...very nice and pretty looking. I just put 4" speakers in the front, but for the back I ripped out the stock 5" speakers and ran the wire to the back and put 2 6x9's in boxes and that rounded out my component speaker system. Shortly thereafter, I put a 16 x 16 x 16 bandpass sub box with a Rockford Fosgate sub on my back seats, I just folded them down, no one sits back there anyways. Then I bolted my amp to the other folded down seat.
Plays real nice...good, clean, crisp sound |
