You have several options and some good resources here to find them. Use the search feature.
First and foremost, make sure your current engine is sound. If so, the you want to upgrade the intake, and exhaust. The more air you get through the engine the more HP you get. The you can begin work with the turbo. An aftermarket turbo timer will get you more boost (again, more air) and other mods to the turbo system will get you even more. From what I have heard you can get into the 300's and even 400's with the current turbo... But it sounds like you need to do some reading and research before anything else. Good luck!!! |
Turbo timer ups the boost? Boost controller maybe? A turbo timer just lets the car run for an x amount of time after you take the key out to cool the engine. But im sure u knew that.

Oooops... Yeah... That is what I meant!!!

Its a 7MGTE.
You just bought it, so do maintenance first. mods later. First and foremost: do a block test (you can buy a kit at NAPA or any parts store) also, buy a compression tester off of summit, (they're cheaper there than anywhere, and still good) do a compression test while the engine is warm. Once it all checks out, replace plugs, wires. Check the air filter and replace with either new factory air filter, or buy a GOOD cone filter, not some ebay crap. replace fuel filter, inspect all hoses. Replace every coolant hose if you can. Chances are that they're brittle and cracked or they're swollen and squishy. clean clean clean. a clean car is a happy car, and people don't understand that the engine is also an area that needs attention. Check for oil leaks, and fix as soon as you can. An oil leak left unnoticed is a "THE 7MGTE IS A PIECE OF SHIT" thread waiting to happen. 400hp on the stock CT is not very common. At higher PSI they are just blowing hot air. Upgrade is necessary if you want to be in the upper 300's, 400's with a CT26. 300 is doable and even 350ish is with the stock CT. Take care of the car. This cannot be stressed enough. I stand behind the statement: 99% of MK3's problems is the owner. |
thanks for all the info ill check back in later to see if any more info
