Default Burning Oil...

Well I am about to buy a 88 Supra 7m-gt and it loves pouring white smoke out of the exhaust. The current owner (friend of mine) has done a few modifications to it and seems to know what he is talking about and claims that the smoke is caused because of the turbo is going bad but one of my other friends says that its a plumbing problem; either too much or not enough oil to the engine or the oil is too thin (Mobil 10W-30). Also I didnt do it when he first started the car to let it warm up and while we were driving it was coming and going mostly when he floored it and shifted i think.

This will be my first import and I don't know much about them, I currently own a 77 chevy nova...

Any suggestions or ideas?

White smoke=water, blue smoke=oil and black smoke=too fuel rich. Could be turbo, but check for the dreaded blown head gasket too.

Sounds like the head gasket to me.
Is it losing coolant?
