i didnt think it should be that way either, but i put them on exactly how i took them off and there was nothing else holding them on. i didnt have to take anything off to get the rotors off in the first place. so im a little confused. there is the bracket that holds the pads around the rotors but thats about it.

well when i was driving it it seemed like they were rocking back and forth and hitting the bracket or something...but i just went and took the tires off again and tried to shake them and they didnt move at all. so maybe my car has always made that sound but i never drive with my stereo off like that so i dont hear it. its about to rain now so im not gonna go drive it but ill drive tomorrow and tell you if i still hear it

The rotors are held in place by your wheel.

^^ what he said...but if they seem to wobble or make squeek during part of the rotation, it sounds like your rotors are warped...you said you replaced them? or did you have them turned? or did you just put in new pads and do nothing to the rotors?

my brakes squeak, a little bit, when going under 5 mph...and my rotors arent warped. its just a hard spot in the brake pad. my brakes and rotors were replaced at 100,000 and my car has 113 thousand miles now. if your rotors were worped than you would feel your steeringwheel shake while applying the brakes. |

so i found out what was making the knocking sound. it turns out that the bolts holding the caliper bracket on my driver side front were loose. i was driving home today and one completely fell out. now im looking for a replacement. im heading out to a junkyard tomorrow but if i cant find it there is there someone who has extra that would like to donate to me, or sell if you must?
