Default My brake lights are stuck on. wtf!

I drove home from work, and my brake lights work fine. I know this because the bottom cover of the third brake light is missing, and previous owner chopped a whole in the bottom of the light assembly, So my third brakelight reflects off of my sun screen thing for the windshield i have back there. So i know when the brake lights are on. I pull up at home. All is normal. I went to get my lunch cooler outa the trunk, So i would have noticed a light shining in my face. I get out and go in, And i know for sure my lights were off when i went inside. About 5 mins ago, My grandma tells me the lights are on on my car. And i ask the inside lights? and she says no, the ones in the back. So im like wtf, thinking she doesnt know what shes talking about, and i go out there and my brake lights are lit up. I started the car(charge the battery up) and i played with the brake pedal. No dice. I even drove around some small local roads to see if something happened, watching the third brake light the entire time(all 5 bulbs lit up BTW). So I just pulled the tail lights fuse, and theywent out and came in to write this. Im pretty sure its not a short, because when i took the fuse out. Faulty pedal switch mayber? I really need some ideas, because i have to drive to work at 5 am, and i definatley need my brakelights to work . Im about to look through the online tsrm, but any help here appreciated. Thanks

go and adjust the switch so that the pedal is always resting on it when you aren't braking

just follow the brake pedal stalk up into the dash till you find a two pin plug which is on a round shaped switch which should be directly on the pedal stalk, you'll find it

Ok well I just checked that out, In the rain, with a flashlight and umbrella, cause i was bored, and the switch looks fine. It goes all the way in when the brake is resting. Any other ideas? or how much is the switch to replace..It might just be bad. If worst comes to worst i can put a switch on and remember to flip it for the ride. Im not at my own house right now, So i have no kinda tools except a screw driver and pliers . I dont even have my trust voltmeter with no more case. Its just a circuit board with a dial, LCD, and wires.

Check to see if the rubber piece on the pedal where the switch is. If theres a hole where the button on the switch is, then it fell out. Thats what happened to me. The little rubber piece fell out and I didnt realize. So i went out and bought a new switch. They are cheap from what I remember. But I dont remember the exact price. Somewhere around $15.

P.s. - Pray its not the switch. Its an absolute pain in the ass to adjust. Your ribs start hurting from laying on the door sill and you hands will start to hurt. Overall its not fun. Good luck lol.

Hmm Ill check the rubber thing tommorow. From what i could see with my wimpy flashlight it pushed the switch pretty far when the pedal was all the way down. Im hoping its not a short somewhere in between the pedal switch and the fuse or something. I think its very odd that it just decided to turn the brake lights on when the car wasnt on or moving. Like usually when stuff brakes you have to use/touch it first lol.
