1J vs. 2J
Ok, Im in a dilema, I cant decide which engine Im getting for a 1990 Supra, can I fit a 2j in it, or would I be better off with a 1j, which one is better, I've heard some weird things about the 1j being better? Help me OUT!:dunno:

It all comes down to the amount of money you want to spend. They are both doable and have been done many times. The 1j is cheaper and easier to drop in. Not so much fabrication work needed. The 2j is expensive and harder to drop in. Lots of fabrication work needed.

well money is not a problem but I dont want to do tons a fabrication, what has to be done in order to 2j it?
|
Kinda off topic, dcrusupra does your lights stay lazy eyed or are they just manually done for the picture? And if they stay how did you do it?

He did it as a joke, don't try that at home.

Its fairly simple to do it. No they dont stay like that. You have to turn the lights on and just as they go up a little click the light switch back 1 and it will stop wherever u clicked it back at. Its late now, but some things off the top of my head for the 2j are the rear turbo will hit the firewall, the v160 tranny is a lot beefier than the r154 so you'll have to bang out the tranny tunnel if u want a 6 speed, you'll have to do some wiring harness work, and motor mounts. Edit - I just uploaded a video from my phone, i dont kno how it did this, but it does it on its own. I'll be working on it and then itll just do it. Supra Wink |
:crazy2: Thats Awesome! Gotta figure out how it works!

Hiya, I'm new here, but I was wondering the exact same thing. I heard the overall performance of the 2J is alot better. But what mods do I need to do on a 1990 MKIII 3.0T?
