O2 sensor?
My car is running rich and the exhaust pipe is fairly black. I don't know if the O2 sensor has ever been changed, but I would like to give that a try. I am not getting any codes and I can't find a parts house that carries anything other than the single wire O2 sensor. I haven't tried the dealer yet, but that is almost always my last resort. Would the single wire sensor work? I know it would have to depend on the engine getting the sensor hot instead of the other 2 wires, but I don't know which wires not to use and so I am reluctant to try the single wire.
Anyone......... Russ |

If yours is 3 wire, then you need a 3 wire one. I always use the oem style ones with the connector. I don't like the 'splice-in' universal ones.

Thanks for the sight Toyota87supra. Pretty good prices. The parts houses here either don't list them or have the single wire aftermarket or can get them in a few days and they are anywhere between $100 and $125. So I have been trying to hold out for a better price. I never did call the Toyota dealer and figured they would be twice as high as the best parts house. $40 for an oem! I guess I will have to call Toyota and see.
I bought evaporators at the parts houses and had 2 leak from different suppliers so I went dealer. It was almost twice the price, but it doesn't leak. Now that my A/C compressor is leaking and they want $350 for rebuilt/with one year warranty and $450 for a new one and 2 year warranty, I am not completely sure about going that way, but I am sure the dealer would want at least 6 or 7 for the same piece, but you do get what you pay for with things like these. It sure is hot here though and I don't like to have to keep charging the system every week or so. Russ |
