Low-budget sleeper
How can my friend and I make his 3rd gen Supra beat a 240whp Turbo Talon (fwd) by a long shot?
I'm thinking nitrous and electric cutout. I hear the 7MGE is a strong motor, so it should be able to hold a hefty shot... I hope. Let me know what is needed to do- BTW, the motor was swapped in and the owner said the "new" motor had 30k on it.... THanks,

u wanna beat that talon?
first of all our cars are too heavy to compare with that 2ndly, u put a shot of nos in your engine without any other mods you might as well say goodbye to that new 30k engine new crankshaft new pulley new cams maybe a new clutch a fidanza lighweight flywheel new injectors if you wanna run nos (i suggest, 75 shot wet) forged pistons with coating new rods a metal head gasket (most important) i think those would be enough and you will beat that talon by a long shot

I will agree on most of the parts, But you dont need cams pulleys or the flywheel. They may help, But trying to fit the low-budget thing ha. And if only a 75 shot, the bottom end would hold up fine, just need the mhg. If more, id say build the bottom end. And remember you need traction dont just need to mod the motor. This is a talon tsi im assuming so its AWD and about 1500lbs give or take lighter. (im exhagerating).

I also forgot to mention, Get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and a BAMF fuel pump. Then youll be set.

well i was jus you know
hoping for the best but preparing for the worst he wanted a sleeper, so no turbo, no exhaust, nothing that makes any sound, or any showing outside the hood i jus thought he would need every part that he can to beat that car those cars are crazy, i wouldnt race em, but awd and weighs less than half our car? thats at least 1500 lbs so which translates to : he will beat you by at least a second and a half

They only weigh about 2500 ish. Not quite half, But sure as hell not as heavy. But im sure with a 75-100 shot of nos and the motor ups to handle it, He should be pretty well off as long as the talon isnt modded a shitload. And i just read that its front wheel drive, So it must not be a tsi...oh well. That means you will have the traction advantage instead of the other way around. lol.

TSI talons are not fast. i found out last night riding in my friend's firebird formula. he beat that talon tsi by about the same distance he does my stock n/a auto supra when we race. what i am saying is it will be a close race.
the talon that we raced was pretty much stock except his BOV. he was also manual. is your friends supra auto or manual? Last edited by burton51m; 08-01-2006 at 01:38 PM. |

onee thing i didnt see on the list is an intake filter, but it may make a sucking noise so i dont know if your friend will want that.
