Default Wow, I was thinking about selling my 300Zx but maybe not after all the BHG stories

Seriously always wanted a Supra but I have read a lot of BHG stories or warnings in the last 2 days to make me stick with my VG powered 300ZX..

My Z has 58K on the clock and runs fine...as much as I want one I dont think I am going to get into the Supra club unless I find one really clean with a new head gasket done already...

kind of sad about it actually...

If you were to read the whole story youll find that its a very easy fix and is almost the only thing that goes bad on these motors. Keep reading! and join the supra club

I don't know about you guys but have you were seen an engine bay on the 300zx turbo or non there isn't room to fit a needle in there, you tell me whats easier to work on? Plus you're gonna be driving a supra, i love the car!

dont go crazy and push the car all the time and your chances will be less. just cuz u own a supra turbo doesnt mean your gonna get a BHG. i mean they're likely but be smart with the car.

as with any car take care of it it will take care of you..but with an older car you dont know how the previous owner(s) treated her.

and plus looking @ these forums 9 out of 10 times you just hear about what goes wrong..maybe a few people colaberating project ideas but i dont see that too often mainly 1st time owners braggin on a stock car (no offense lol)

but the supra is well worth the risk relitivly low cost and a great build platform if you arent broke as a joke like me

Not that hard to repair ... This september it'll be a whole year since mine finally got its arse into drive. But if you were to buy a 300ZX with 58K on the clock it'd cost you a lot more than buying a MkIII Supra and getting the engine serviced and checked. Even the head repair is be less than three grand. Still cheap at that.

So I bought this old Honda bike, an NSR250. Bit of a street racer, I guess. I'm told they're fast.

Delivering it home with a friend driving the Supra for the first time. I drop gears and make a scream from the twin pipes flowing down this pony's flanks and it takes off like it's tail's on fire.

I look back when the Honda gets to its tap-out and the Supra's only two lengths behind. No one I've let ride my bike has told me its slow, they've all loved the thing. That car is a good thing indeed.

unless you planning to do an engine swap with that zx, you wont be ablr to reach the hps that the 7mgte does without frying your pistons

trust me i've seen a lot of em
i think replacing pistons would probably cost more than simply replacing a head gaslet

Thanks for all the replies...I still want one but like I said my Z has 58K and I have less than $8K in her and she is not stock but she is not meant to be a racer. She is a great running cruiser that can kick a Honda if i want it too.

I dont race it I just driver it moderately fast now and then.

I just bought a used Celica for the wife and I was thinking about getting myself the Supra..pre 93 model...cause thats all I can afford..

If I can sell the 300ZX and not taking a bath doing it then I may still get one...depends on that most of all and of course finding one close enough to me that I can actually drive and see before buying.

I am still trying to find out about this Supra before I make a decision.

I still need to know lots of the basics about the Supra so I can compare it too my Z to see if it is worth it..cant have a downgrade..not saying it is ...I am saying I dont know enough yet to know.

I have also owned 7 Rx7's and believe me I know what it is worth to be able to get in a car and fire it up anytime without a worry. My Z fires up in like 1 second if that everytime..

thanks guys
