Well the ecu make a CEL when the output from it is abnormal. If you look inside it, It works like a mechanical speed control from an rc car, As it opens, An arm moves across different contacts. If you only got the idle/low rpm part wet or damaged, Once you rev it up the ecu sees that its fine. I would say just open it up and let it dry. The afms generally dont like being cleaned, But it shouldnt be that bad if it still works. It would have to be plugged in, The car will not even run for more than a few puts if the afm is unplugged.
