Few things and BHG
hey. well ive went and spent some money, and bought a cheap set of rims for now to get rid of the ugly stockers. i went to a local salvage yard, and found 4 stock rims from an oldsmobile intrigue. 16" x 6.5". put one on the car before i bought them to see if they had proper clearance and such. everything fit nicely, so i went and bought them. just over $100 with lug nuts and everything, there's just a few scuffs on one.. well, i say they look ugly as hell on an olds, but seem to fit my supra, im my opinion anyways? they really opened it up, now im going to paint my calipers red and the brake drums black and i have to figure out what to do with the center cap because it has the olds symbol on it and the toyota ones dont fit... its also indented, which i dont like. i was thinking of painting it black.. but how do i go about filling it in where the design is? its plastic.. if i could fill it with something and paint over it? any ideas are welcome. ill get pics of my car tommorow, they look much better on the car.
also today i was thinking about my BHG... i was thinking of just doing it myself.. but what if the head is cracked? or needs to be smoothed.. and so on? i cant do any of that.. so if i got someone to do it for me, they would be liable if it didnt turn out right? toyota here charges about $80 an hour labour.. but at hyundai where is sister works, theyt charge about $45 an hour and its about a 7.5hour job they say, so that saves.. $270 about.. but its hyundai, but they should still know what there doing? or maybe i can just get another 7mge imported? id swap.. but if i want a 1jz.. id have to change alot and find a different tranny.. same with the 7mgte? any opinions welcomed. |

correct me if im wrong, but you should have disc brakes all around, so i wouldnt paint those black if i were you. and if you do the bgh yourself, just take the head to a machine shop, they can do what you need with it.

yes, my bad. there all discs.. couldnt see the breaks with the stock sawblades lol. but you dont think i should get it done professionally? i dont have really any experience taking apart an engine.. and if they screw up, they re-fix it? i dunno.
i also want to find different center caps, any ideas? |

it really depends. its gonna cost you a lot to get it done professionally. youll save money by doing it yourself, plus youll know your car when its done. just go slow, take pictures as you go along, and if you think your doing something wrong, ask questions here. youll find your answer. but if your really worried about messing it up, yes you can take it to a shop and if it breaks theyre responsible as long as your not doing something stupid that breaks it. but search on here and youll find all the info youll ever need to change your head gasket. good luck.
and no clue about the center caps. im running sawblades. if i had enough money for it id just switch to the five spokes on the later models, but i cant right now.
