intake manifold has coolant what did i do wrong?
So we got all the vacuum lines connected.. and blocked a few coolant lines due to taking out the ac pump, and the power steering, but there is a line on the intake manifold more towards the front of the car.. it attachs it self to the intake manifold and has a few vacuum lines that run parallel to it but are connected together by pipes.. the vacuum lines run up to the connectors it needs to be in.. but we have a coolant line that runs into the intake manifold and we seeled off on the other end with a screw because it did not connect to anything..
now when i go to crank the motor over white smokes shoots out the intake manifold.. we found out it was coolant.. any idea what im doing wrong here?? this isnt my motor, but i circled the line i was talking about .. if you follow that line.. thats the line we cant figure out where the other end goes.. can you guys helP?? Ok, i just completely rebuilt a 7M-GE motor and that line is the same on the turbo and N/A modles. That line is a vaccum line. Now are you getting coolant in that line? or do you not know where the coolant is entering the manifold.

ya that line has coolant in it.. it comes from the front lower part of the motor comes up in the very front by the belts.. ts off ones goes to the left to a power steering pump.. but we took off out power steering pump shitem.. and the other side of the t runs up to the side of the manifold..

Ok, mine doesnt have coolant in it, and i dont think any coolant lines are related to the A/C compressor. I had trouble getting my vaccum lines to be commected right when i did mine, there is a thread about vaccum lines and it has diagrams for both Turbo and N/A models. Look in there and see if that diagram helps.

Its possible
The ISC valve which is right next to that area has coolant running through it so its possible its leaking in the valve and contaminating the system with coolant.
Its easy to remove and check with the engine cooled down just make sure you have a gasket handy or have gasket material on hand to make your own. If it has been leaking there the coolant would probably damage the old gasket. |

There is also coolant that runs through the intake manifold and plenum from a 1/4" whole on the intake side of the head between the intakes for chambers 1 and 2. I had a leak there and it ran down the block but I suppose it's possible for it to get pulled into the intake manifold as well. Otherwise the ISC valve i would definetly check. Only two places that coolant cruises around.
Why Mr. Toyota decided to deviate from his usually infinite wisdom and but a F'in coolant whole that has to run through the intake manifold I don't know, fittings and a hose seems much easier although not as clean looking...
