Auto to Manual Conversion
Ok i have an 89 turbo auto and the tranny is slipping and i am sick and tired of driving the auto. i have two parts cars both are 86.5 N/A and both 5spd. so what would i need from them to convert my auto to manual.
i read somewhere the n/a tranny can hold 400 hp so it should be fine with mine cuz i am not gonna go that high yet. if anyone can just give me a list of the parts needed i would greatly appreciate it thanks! |

you could probably take the parts from the n/a.(im not sure, im not a doctor)
1.transmission 2.flywheel 3.clucth disc 4.preasure plate 5.clutch pedal and brake pedal 6.drive shaft 7.engine to trans support wing 8.transmission cross member 9.manual tach (make sure the clucth and flywheel are good because a turbo engine going through a non turbo trans is a little squrlie) 10.some say you dont need a manual ecu and some you do. idk about that |

oh shit sorry 89 is a bad year because its a transitional year so all this might not work. you might need to buy a 89 manual. sorry bro. heres a good link. http://www.4cefed.com/conversion.html

from 86-88 all the parts should be the same. You dont need a manual ecu, The auto one will work fine. You can even take the auto computer out once your done. And i would get the manual tach so it does have the norm and pwr lights and the o/c off light on it. Plus i think you need to do something to make the tach work with the manual anyway, ill try to find it.

The tachometer has nothing to do with the transmission.
Pedal, master cylinder, slave cylinder, flywheel, clutch, transmission, driveshaft. Perhaps lower speedo cable too. All in all, not a big deal especially since youve already got the parts. All you need is an upgraded NA clutch and your'e good to go. |

I think its just that the tach wiring harness is also attached to the transmission harness or something like that. I forget. Plus it doesnt have the o/d off and norm and pwr lights lol
