Steering shaking

OK, here is my dilemna, at 70MPH, if I have to put on the brakes a few seconds later my entire front end starts to shake like crazy, almost as if it wants to wobble right off, it goes away after a few minutes, but only does it at higher speeds..Anyone tell me? Is it time for brakes? I put new pads on and the passenger side has a new caliper and rotor....

Front wheel bearing. Steering ball joints. Off balance wheels. bad aligntment. warped brake rotors. Worn out suspensing bushing or ball joints. Jack ure car up, And see if you can move the wheel by hand. If you cant, It is probably the off balance wheels or alignment. If you can move it, Locate the joint thats allowing it to move, And you have your problem. These cars are comon for steering ball joint and front bearing issues. Goodluck with your diagnosis!

I had an inspection done and the front checked out fine, thats why it is killing me right now, I'm thinking its the caliper and rotor.

take it to a shop and ask them if your rotors are warped and if they are to shave them. they could be warped....but you said it goes away after a minute...

maybe you didnt put the rotor or caliper on right...

do u have brake fluid?

it might not be the brakes..

I'd be checking for worn front end parts. I've seen it a 100 times (not alot of supras). Lower control arm bushings wear out before uppers, and will give the problem you describe. Ball joints.

Some play in the bushings is normal, as they are rubber. But that is also why the eventually wear out.

I am about to replace mine with Toyota factory ones (I still have to call dealer). The poly ones are expensive, and stiffen your ride up, so you'll feel more vibrations from the road.

/\ Listen to the man! and me, jk, but mrnickleye knows all! Dont goto that shop that checked out your front end and said it was ok if your car shakes. Something has to be wrong with your front end or brakes or wheels, All of which can be tested pretty easily.
