power shifting

just wanna know if u guys power shift on ur supra'z:dunno:

tone loc 09-19-2006 08:59 PM

what is power shifting? and double clucth or whatever??

RussianMK3 09-19-2006 09:40 PM

it's when u shift whithout letting go of gas pedal

Isphius 09-19-2006 09:50 PM

Lol, Thats really bad for your transmission. Once you get it down you can shift fast enough without breaking anything, And the difference between a good fast shift using the clutch and powershifting is negligible. Double clutching is for tractor trailiers. Thats when you put your car in nuetral, let the clutch out, wait for the engine to match rpms for the next gear, and push the clutch back in and put it in the next gear. Thats why they put synchronizers in transmissions, they do all that for you. I remember that line in the fast and the furious "granny shifting and not double clutching like your supposed to. who does that? haha. Its just a waste of time, But im sure it would make your synchros last a little longer.

RussianMK3 09-19-2006 11:24 PM

yeah i was just askin if u guyz power shift but i know it reallllly screws up ur tranny, i saw some guy power shiftin on a civic an pop the clutch:rolleyes2

what about the line
"he has a Motec System exhaust"
when did motec make an exhaust?

Isphius 09-20-2006 01:46 AM

Lol yeah and the fact that vin diesel did a burnout and a wheelie at the same time for like 2 blocks in that charger(which is physically impossible), And if those were both 10 second cars why did the race last at least 25 secs? And i wana know how that mk4 with the 18" rims would have enough traction to keep up with that supercharged hemi with the tubbed rear off the line? lol.

burton51m 09-20-2006 02:23 AM

hollywood

they put that 10 second race in slow-mo so they can actually show paul walker's prettyboy hollywood face for a longer time.

then he must be moving pretty fast then
being able to le me see

slide off from launch
f-ing up
looking at the computer
pressing nos.
f-ing up again
the metal piece flying
f-ing up again lol
pressing nos again,
and thinkking that he was actually gonna win
then f-ing up again lol, (ok i'll stop)

he must be lightning quick

but do you guys think there's a powerful enough nos-shot
to let sumbody pass you by two cars at least
on the idk the last 300 ft of the race
and then be able to catch up?

and if you guys ddnt notice
while vin diesel was giving a "speech"
the guy with the spiked hair and black shirt
magically appears at two places instantly
he appeared behind vin , in one frame, then behind paul all of a sudden
(super bad editing/directing)lol

dont ask, it was for school

Isphius 09-21-2006 03:35 AM

Oh yeah, That one scene always cracks me up. The car has so much power it blows the floor pan off. lol. I have to watch that movie again.

Supra2NR 09-21-2006 04:27 AM

i jus dont get it.

so you put a hundred shot of nos,
its not like the whole engine detonated

its so powerful, it took out screws in the cockpit first
wont you expect sumthing flying thru the hood first lol

RussianMK3 09-21-2006 06:37 PM

lol all this stuff is funny and The fast and the furious (all the movies) are all complete BULLSHIT F an F tokyo drift almost made me dislike drifting lol

and when the car randomly jumps through the air...

it must be majical ...or haunted.

and in the second fast and furious where they jump the bridge.
that just makes the whole first race retarted

Supra2NR 09-22-2006 01:39 PM

i'd say the third one
took more skills from the drivers'
i'll give them more props than the other movies

but you know what was completely wrong in that movie
"you dont drift while youre trying to get away from a japanese guy with a gun"
that jus do not work in real life

but i said this b4 and i'd say it again
the movie wasnt that bad
it was the pple that think they can drift after the movie
that made me hate the movie

tone loc 09-22-2006 08:10 PM

ya at my school everyone is talking about drifting and shit but last year i rarely heard it. and my favriote part in the thrid one is the viper race.

Ahmad88 09-22-2006 08:36 PM

that viper race was total BS that viper should of outhandled, outpowered that POS that other guy was drivin BUT then again it depended on the driver. That guy who was in the viper was too concious of showin off instead of focusing on the race in hand. Wut i dont get in the fast and furious series is why dont they just floor it the whole time, they have that one part in the movies where it shows them flooring when the race is almost over. I would have that pedal to the floor the whole race. these movies are just for showin off ricey cars and retarded unrealistic races. The director is probably a ricer himself.

are you kidding, if u ddnt see, the guy with "POS" or whatever it is
was on slicks, those tires have no business in a dirtroad, he should have been outhandled, idk how do you get traction with those
they are good for flat asphalt roads, but its like driving on bald tires on dirt

its good for civic n integra but not recommending for supra...

another hand... if you wanna do double clutch or power shifting.... i recommending you to use or do a double gas running... it works great on me...

hope you know what i mean...

hangsupra 09-23-2006 01:56 AM

come on people...

are we talking about a power shifting... in this thread... or are we talking about movie.. huh?

huh?

tone loc 09-23-2006 03:33 AM

ya your right were sorry. whats poping the clutch

Isphius 09-23-2006 03:54 AM

Leave us alone! lol. F&F doesnt deserve its own thread so we just put it in with power shifting. Oh, and power shifting as it is called is not good for ANY car lol. And double clutching is totally useless unless your trying to make your transmission last 1,500,000 miles. Otherwise it just wastes time.

supfoo514 09-23-2006 06:12 AM

I believe poping the clutch is a technique used in cornering.

Basically you quickly hit the clutch and release it without shifting. This in turns causes your car to shift its weight to the front of the car (the car jolts forward). At this point is when you would begin to corner. The increased weight in the front creates more traction in the front wheels than the rear which allows for quicker cornering. This technique is usually used when the driver doesn't have enough distance to apply the brakes to make a corner. At least this is my understanding of this technique. Someone else might have more informed knowledge of this.
