factory specs?
i blew my headgasket and it is in the shop, only b/c the guy who was going to work on it with me for free is extremely busy right now.(addition to house)
i asked him(the guy at the shop) and they said they are going to torque the headbolts down to factory specs....should i tell him to torque them down differently? if so how much? or would it not matter b/c mine is an N/A thanks |
I'd say anywhere between 85-95 because the factory specs in the computer that they use is 58 ft lbs. And you will blow it leaving the shop, lol.

I've always heard in the 70-74 range. Unless you're modded.

so what about for a N/A?
I have an 87 NA which id like to take to the shop to get the head gasket torqued down properly before i blow it. what should an NA be torqued down to compared to a turbo? im gonna leave my NA pretty much stock.

r u getting a metal head gasket?
|
70 more or less on stock bolts, 100 and youll snap them. you can do 90-100 on arp bolts and over 100 on studs, But there is no need to go over 90-100. And a factory HG with 100 ft lbs and high octane fuel will take a 400 hp build fine, As long as it is tuned well and it doesnt detonate.

im not getting a MHG...
new stock headgasket with new stock bolts cygnus said 72ft/lb thanks for the info ill tell them |
