Unhappy mysterious starting problem

Hi, mi 1987 MA70 (no turbo) 3.0 6 cillinder has always started in 2 seconds. Even after five years of inactivity it stated in 2 seconds. NOw I have used it intensely, but quietly for a number of months (while waiting for new company car). I had timing belt, spark plugs and orioginal exhaust system replaced at maintenance in a Toyota garage. About five thousnad kilometers later it began to start worse. It gets worse and worse and now I have to try two to three times for several seconds. When it finally runs it turns smoothly, but stutters during about 5 kilometers when driving. After that for the rest of the day it runs and starts like as usual : like clockwork.
oil consumption not even half a liter in 15.000 kilometers
water level steady
temperature steady as ever
kilometers 205.000
Anyone any ideas? I am getting desperate
Thanks already
Steven

Cool

there is a cold start sensor you might look at and a cold start fuel injector

Hey,

Did not even know he had these, but it does sound logic. Any idea where I can locate these under the hood?

Thanks already

Yeah I've got the same problem. It takes about 3-4 seconds before it starts and then stutters as if it wants to stall (only SOMETIMES does it do this, usually when it's really cold...oil issues I think). Oil pressure is high until warm, and idles around 1.5k rpm. But then sure enough after 5 minutes when it's warm she calms right down...idles fine again (under 1k about 800), oil pressure drops to a normal level (around 1). Then so long as I don't leave it off for 5 hours or more it will start on a dime, and all levels are exactly where they should be.

i got my bhg fixed and found all this shit not connected(Power steering, Vacuum hose in intake)..n prolly other stuff that i cant find.

but i have noticed that when i push my remote start button it cranks forever(2-3 seconds) and finally makes a loud clunk or click n gives up. it automatically tries to start it agian and it starts right up

it never did this before so could the cold start sensor be the problem?

Yes! with new spark plugs, new ignition cables and a new delco cap (you know where the ignition cables start from) the car starts like a dream again.

On my Celica convertible I had a similar problem but there it was oxidation of the connecting plug on the cold start sensor.

I am a happy man!
