Default Free 1987 toyota supra

My dad just bought a small house to put up for rent. The previous owner of the house died. He owned the supra. The car came with the house. It has been sitting for more than 3 years under a tree, no rust, paint is ok, interior is horrible (just needs a good wash). Here is my question, the supra has 146k on the clock, the title says exempt under the odometer, does that mean that the odometer doesn't work? Now the main issue, i want to know what should i do before i start this baby. The p.o. removed the battery for security, that's not an issue however. The belts look good, engine looks very clean, radiator is DRY. So what needs to be done before i pop in a battery and start it. Also do i need to drain the gas tank? If so, how. Sorry such vague questions, thanks, btw great forum.

Exempt doesn't mean the odometer doesn't work. They do that on older cars usually. When I bought mine, the title was from the original owner, when I got my title in the mail, it said exempt on the odometer even though I'm the 2nd owner and the speedo hasn't been tampered with.

As for starting it... Do a fluid change on anything with fluid. Replace the old gas with new gas, there's some other things that need to be done as well to "prime" it, but I'm not a tech so not really sure on what all is involved. You'll probably want to change the fuel filter as well, maybe twice after you drive it a while, just to make sure there's no gunk in the fuel line from the tank to the filter.

Default gas plug

that is not true i just took off my gas tank and i had to drain the tank. the plug was just on the bottom of the tank i used my socket wrench to turn the knob and most of the gas drained out.

So could i jack up the rear end and just drain the tank without removal.

Removal of the gas tank IS NOT NECESSARY! Go buy a haynes manual, it will tell you exactly how to drain the gas. Anyway as stated drain ALL FLUID! and re-placee. the belts might look fine but re-place them anyway as well as any hoses in the engine compartment.
I bought m supra after a year of sitting in a GARAGE and everything looked fine but it turned out that the radiator hose badly needed replacement.

and also remember the outside might look fine, but most of the wear is INSIDE the hoses, not the outside.
