Talking downpipe question

i am thinking of getting a 3" downpipe for the supra.

i was just wondering if the flex pipe is needed in the downpipe.

does it do what it sounds like, give the exhaust a little "flex?"

thanks for any response

I asked HKS the same question but didn’t get an answer. I can only assume having a flex joint doesn’t transmit any engine movement to the exhaust. Having said that the standard stock exhaust with front cat is ridged. Good question would be interested in the answer.

Its better to have a flex section, as the motor rotates you're stressing the exhaust and the exhaust manifold. Also important if you bottom out your exhaust. I think its a good idea, that being said I don't run a flex section on my car. I have solid motor mounts though.

it does not matter as the 7mgte does not move alot and if it does its very slightly from side to side my exhaust has been upgraded but has no flexi pipe
