ok i just finished a head gasket job on the car It dosent want to start ever when it is cold it trys but wont start i have ot hold my foot on the gas and turn the key and hold the keyto the start postion and it will start buy wont idle it has trouble idleing but i will hold it at 3000 rmps when and if i get it ot start and whne it warms up it runs fine and i can drive it for a while turn it off and if the motor is still warm it will start right up easy but if its cold it wont start the engine digastis came up withtrouble code for the engine 22 i dont no what that means Also somtimes when iget to to start it white smokes really bad for like 30 seconds i tihnk the cold start might be broken

aparently you have a coolant temp sensor problem,check if they are conected. they should be on the thermostat housing,those wires are prone to breaking. also check your timing and verify that your timing belt marks are set correctly.

by the way ,timing should be set at 10 degrees btc ..

Mine ran really bad and wouldn't idle either for the coolant temp sensor disconnected. I dont know why they designed it like that but they did. Fix the connection and you should be fine.

so just the wire broke ans not the actual sensor at 1st ithoguht my sensor had gone out and i got one off one of my parts motors but it donset fit my wireing harness i was just going ot change thme out but since the plug connectors r different i dont no i guess i will check trhe wires and make sure they r still good and if they r thne i will have to go get a sensor that will fit my harness
