Engine swap
i have a 1986.5 toyota supra non turbo and i was wondering if the 7mgte turbo engine could be swap into mine without changing the 5spd tranny computer ect.

Ofna, A-preciate you telling him to search the forums but still try answering the question.
Question Answer: You do need to change the ECU bro or have yours rewritten.

apparently the turbo engine will run with the N|A computer. my supra is a 87 turbo but at some point in time the pcm was replaced with a NA pcm. I noticed this when I was pulling the engine out.
as for horse power loss...most likely... as I have no one in this area with a turbo supra with which i can compare it to... |

The ECU's and Tranny's are both different. I know for sure the ECU has a diff setup for each turbo and N/A. As for the tranny, the Tranny that came with the turbo models was made stronger.

and will the new engine mount in the original mounting brackets?

yeah you can use the same brackets and u can use the same tranny just make sure you dont go over 350hp and get a better clucth upgrade
