more problems..
Ok so last night I tried figuring out how to increase and decrease boost with my manual boost controller, and when I hit 11 psi by accident my engine started knocking so I turned it off and turned it on. Car was fine after that. I went home and did the diagnostic and like before I got a code 14 but this time I got a code 52 which is knock signal. Now I noticed that my car Idles at 1100 even when warmed up!! Any ideas why it does that? It usually idles at 650. So why did it change so drastically after I got a knock signal? I also noticed that when I was boosting 10 psi that car would die after I boosted to 10 psi in 1st gear and let go of the gas. Any help would be apreciated.

Ok so I got some good news and some bad news ... My car idles ok now... I erased the codes and restarted my car. Now the only code that comes up is the knock signal code. When I drive my car it wants to die under boost, but only when i depress the clutch. For example, I am in 2nd gear I get to like 4000 and depress the clutch. If I dont switch gears but instead let the engine spin freely as if it were in neutral the car will die. Anyone know what this might be? My autos teacher in college said that it might be the IAC(Idle air Control). IF anyone knows what it might be or had this issue PLZ let me know.

can you still hear the swoosh sound from your blow off valve? if not maybe it is stuck closed, could of failed when when you increased the boost...
it sounds as if you are getting backpressure to the turbo when the throthle closes under boost.. let us know what you find.. |

More Good news... And bad news....
ok I just restarted my ECU last night by disconnecting my battery. I now dont get any codes even after driving the car for a while . I did however do a compression test and well that didnt come out so good. My car was 125,125,125,125,125,125... I know that the min required is 128, so lets hope that the car lasts untill summer time. The car however does still die sometimes under boost, Like I described above in my last post. And yeah my car does still make the pshhhh... sound , so I dont think my blowoff valve is stuck.(Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt the stock one a bypass valve since it doesnt vent pressure to the atmosphere?) Any other suggestions on what might be causing my problem?? I dont think that my low compression would cause my problem.
Thanks. |

Oh yeah forgot to mention...
I was woundering if I could get your guys/girls oppinions on what I should do. My car has rust issues by the doors and the rear wheel wells. I was woundering if I should use the $1500 I saved up to fix the body or save up like $2300 and get a front clip and do a 1jz swap( ---> 1 JZ) in my 3 weeks off of college in december. Let me know what you guys think. The swap will be done in the summer anyway, but I dont know if my recent engine will last untill then.
