|
anyone? please help?
|
do you have your small vacuum\presure hose conected to it?
|
ok im useing the stock bypass valve vacume line, i have the BOV on the IC pipe. and it is all sealed there are no leaks what so ever. heres my pretty little drawing of how it is installed :)

Make sure the spring is adjusted all the way out, and then turn it back in till it sounds like it works right. It should only open when you let off the gas. Did you actually try driving the car or just revving it in the driveway?
|
i have tryed it all the way out and all the way in, i have gotten nothing. i can hear the turbo wind down, kind of a fluttering noise. like chi chi chi, and i have tryed doing it while driving and while in my driveway, nothing at all. now if i rev the engine and push the gasket open with something then it blows off. so the valve is working, is the spring to tight in there? cause its really a hard push
|
Oooo, I've heard about the eBay HKS knockoffs. I also heard that you're supposed to lube it also.....

Yeah put some oil on it. I know my stock BOV made that cahahahah noise, And i know it was working cause my friend reved it up and i could feel the air come out when i pulled it out of the accordian and plugged the hole. But yeah, Put some grease or something on it, And try it on a different vaccum hose. Make sure its one behind the TB though lol. I might get that ebay ssqv clone if you can ever get it to work.

ok so what i have done is cut the spring inside of it. thinking that maby there may have been to much tension on it, and not enough pressure. well its on that track the spring now has about 2 coils cut off of it, and its still not opening. so now what i wonder is where can i buy a spring for the inside of this bov, maby a less tense one. i know hks has one for the racing pop off BOV but not the ssqv. is the spring for the pop off one the same?
oh i also lubed it up and it still would not open up. |
Then you got a defective one. Send it back, get ur money back and buy the real HKS BOV and you'll be problem free.
|
i dont think its defective, i think its just not getting enough vacume. or maby not enough boost to make it blow off.

are u at stock boost levels? and jus dont buy knock-off anymore there's a reason why they call em knock-offs their fake not the real thing crap if u could see who sold u the thing u should knock-him-off his feet for selling u this (jus kidding) thats probly why it was on ebay, cuz it doesnt work |
stock boost=yes, im still looking for a cheap Electronic Boost controller < hard to find. um and also what kind of BOV would you recommend for stock boost levels
this is the kind of bov knock off i got http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SSQV-...ayphotohosting |
Well the reason it doesnt work is cause you payed 3.99 for it. At least get a 40$ ebay BOV lol. It will probably never work right because the seller bought a cheap defective bathc of BOVs to sell on ebay. But I agree, Save for a real SSQV or a cheaper name brand BOV maybe. If your just after sound go with the ssqv because it is quite loud and sounds nice. Or the turbo XS bov with the horn insert is pretty loud and nice sounding too. Or if you get a knock off at laest get one of the 40-80$ ones, because they really work.
|
Actually, If you want, Ill sell you my ebay BOV for 30$ shipped. It works great, It sounded just like the stock bypass valve, but much louder. But im replacing it with a real SSQV when my car is back on the road. Ill get some pics of it for ya.

Why not just get a Bosch BPV?
They work great, hold tons of pressure, and are cheap... hmm, seems too good to be true? oh wait, they're not blingy... they're black plastic. so that's probably why it's so far out of the vocabulary of so many people. It's not polished aluminum, or anodized blue/purple/gold/red/pink yelling "look at me! i'm not stock!" Personally, stick with what works and you'll be fine. If you really want an HKS BOV, buy one. You should take yours apart, and polish the shaft, polish the housing, grease it up, and put it back together. It'll work fine, I'm almost sure of it. |
