Steering isn't straight (Auto, 87, non-turbo)

So, I finally got my Supra running again, and started driving it around. I forgot that when you don't keep your hands steady on the wheel, it will start to veer to the right side. Also, sometimes when I make a really sharp turn, like in or out of a driveway, I can hear a loud clicking noise. Wheels misaligned? Bearings dying? Suspension?? What could be up?

Clicking or a thunk? You might have a bad control arm bushing. Have your front end checked out and after you get the work done, make sure you have an alignment done.

Wheel alignment at the least. You could take it to an alignment shop for a free inspection. Those guys should be able to spot any parts trouble, and give you an estimate for the repairs needed. Write it down if they don't give you a copy of it.

You can tell them that you'll have to wait till pay day if you don't want it fixed now, or by them.

Also, the steering wheel should be perfectly straight after the alignment. Lots of fools don't start with a straight wheel when they do the alignment.

Well, it's almost like a cracking. As if I were trying to twist a plank of wood.

i dont think the cracking is a big problem b/c a lot of supras do it

i would say do a search but it is kindof hard to find so i did it for u

It can be a big problem actually. Even if everyone says "all supra's do that". It's abnormal wear and tear on your control arms and other suspension and front end parts. As well as causing uneven wear on your tires. If left alone long enough it can get really expensive to fix, especially if something decides to "give" in a hard turn at 60mph+.

I found some CV boots:
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...pe=942&ptset=A
But no CV joints, or upper arm bushings...
I was thinking about replacing the suspension anyway, since it's a pretty bumpy ride.

You just got some free 'professional' advice

There are NO CV (Constant Velocity Joints, FWD vehicles only) boots or parts on the supra.

Don't waste time, and do as I said earlier.

Here's a website that sells bushings. upper, lower or whole kit. Rubber or Polyurethane. You can even buy it bushing by bushing. You may be able to find cheaper elsewhere, but for 7M parts, I use this site as a guideline.
