Default diagnostic scanner

do diagnostic scanners provide more information than the check engine light? also, where does it plug into? i remember somewhere under the dash but i cant recall where. i just got ahold of one (at no cost ) so i thought id make use of it.

that depends if its an OBD II scanner...if it is then it will only work on some 95 cars and trucks and all 96 and above... unless you got toyota scanner with the correct plug.
