Mysterious Coolant Leak
Hey, I've been racking my brain and my knuckles for a couple days now trying to find a coolant leak on my 88 turbo. It pooring and I mean pooring from the bottom of the tranny. But I can't see whats leaking on it. I changed one line between the engine and the firewall (quite the bugger to get out) which had a small hole, but the leak is still going. Its been suggested that freeze plugs could be the culprit. I hope not seeing as how I'm currently stranded in Las Vegas (home being south carolina) with a cross country drive coming up on tuesday and just enough money for gas. If you have any wisom to share I would appreciate it. Thanks - Clay

There is a heater hose on the driver's side. There is one on the passenger side. There is a hose fitting coming out of the back of the head that can leak.
You need a flashlight, mirror, and a pressure tester (to pump up some pressure on the cooling system to see where the leak is. Oh yea, and don't go outa state, (or town even) without plenty of $$$$$$ to get you home. Budget a breakdown, cause it can happen any time. |
If your really need to you can run water in the car it wont hurt anything i dont think it is cold enof in north carolina to freeze water and south carolina should be warmer
