Ive had this little misfire since like, November, i dont have the money to take it to a shop, and everything i do, doesnt work. im about to just sell it to someone with the money, and get a different car. but the symptom that i notice is that when i start the engine, it immediately starts to idle funny. the whole car shakes and when i press the gas it only gets worse.

I have changed out all the spark plugs, wires, and the distributor cap and rotor. the fuel injectors are new, as well as the throttle body. I even put some fuel injector cleaner in the gas.the next thing im planning on changing, is the fuel filter, other than that, does anyone have any suggestions????? i need the help badly, because i love this car, and dont want to have to get a new one.

I'm not sure, and infact it's probably not the case...but I had the same problem for a month and today it got worse. I started my car and the idle dropped severely and felt like the car was going to stall ( and I have an automatic ). Well later on tonight I had steam pouring from my hood...sure enough blown head gasket. i could literally see the anti freeze pouring from the block turning into steam as it hit the hot engine parts below. So you may check for BHG? I would check the air filter to be safe, check your fuel lines...fuel filter...shoot buddy there's a few things to check out anyways.

or.... do a diagnostic... in which case you will have codes and i suspect that maybe 31 will be in there :)

i did that a couple months ago, and the only thing that came up, was the same thing that came up before i got the problem. (knock sensors) and t otell you the truth, either this engine never had them, or the idiot i bought it from hooked them up wrong. but it did work before with the engine light on. its too bad though, cause that was one of the first things i did when i had first gotten the problem.
