88 turbo, Any idea on what causes these symptoms?
Hello. I have an 88 Supra Turbo, Automatic. She is put away for the winter, but before I put it away I started having some probems with her. First of all, my engine light comes on. Seems to be at random times, not when hot, or cold, or starting or anything. OCCASIONALLY i will hear a gurgle behind the dash, when the car is started cold. if I rev the engine, the gurgle gets louder...but when the ca is warn, it wont do it. Lastly, the car will occasionally stall, usually when pulling away from a stop light. I will slow down, it will begin to chug, then when i try to accelerate, it dies. Can anyone shed any light on this? I know the gurgle behind the dash points to HG, but I have none of the other usual symptoms (missing rad fluid, etc)
I also notice a bit of a smell when I do punch it down (seems to come as the Turbo spools up) a bit like natual gas or something like that Any Ideas? I plan on getting it diagnosed in the spring, but if anyone can give me some pointers to look at though the winter myself, that would be great Thanks Chris |
