i got a 89mk3 turbo running way to rich. no codes, cant drive over 20mph and wont boost. there alot of black smoke coming out of the tail pipe. i just replace a head gasket and it not running right. i just install 1.2mm hks head gasket and arp studs. torque it down 75foot pound. i check the tps, mass air and timing, and i dont think there any vacumm leak. Everything seem to be with in spec...i dont know if the ECU is mess up. if someone can help me... please help.

Check to see if theres a boost leak.

And after that, check to make sure your exhaust is not plugged.

Does it rev up to 5-6k in neutral??

Will it hold a steady 4k rpm for 10-15 sec. ???

If it ran fine before then it should after the repair. The only thing I can think of is that you might have the cam timing off. You can have either or both off and not have any mechanical damage, but it won't run very good. You might want to check your cold start injector switch or one of the other cold temp switches. If the car thinks it is always cold it will continue to run rich.

Let us know

I agree about the cam timing. Dbl check that.

But the CSI only gets power during the cranking mode. It allows a good squirt of fuel during cranking if the coolant temp is below 56*.

Possibly some wire got pinched, cut, or not hooked up.

I had the same problem before. Its most likely a boost leak so check all of your intercooler hoses and see if they have any cracks in them or if they just are not hooked up at all.
