You'd be lucky to find anyone who'd buy a functioning high mileage 7mge for over $100. There are many reasons on that as a buyer will most likely be buying for a rebuild if buying one with that much mileage on it, not to mention the almost certainty of having to replace the head gasket. Also, you'll find most people buying a replacement engine are going to go ahead and put the money down on a 7mgte as a replacement anyway, further devaluing the 7mge. That being said, I've seen JDM low mileage (45-60k) 7mge's go in the $450-$700 range. On a 7mgte, it all depends on if you are buying an engine with the ECU, or block and head only. There's many things that are different electronics wise between the two.

Personally, I went with the half-cut method for my conversion as then I didn't have to make multiple purchases and worry about year differences with all the various add on components. Granted mine was mediocre on the mileage as it was a little over 100k, but I was able to pick mine up for $1000 plus delivery. I've seen low mileage JDM 7mgte's go for between $650 up to $1000 depending on what's included and the condition of the engine. The upper scale typically included a fresh head gasket installed though.

No matter what you look at, be sure to budget, at a minimum, a head gasket replacement as it's always easier to take care of before the issue occurs. Granted if you're looking at one that has already been done, make sure it comes with a receipt for the work or some other way of verifying this has been done and try to confirm the torque used when fastening the head if possible as that is the real clincher.

Good luck.
