HKS vs Felpro
what kind of head gasket should i use a HKS or Felpro, or does it not really matter, i'm doing it myself and i want to make sure i have the best lol, sorry bout the stupid questions

OH it matters.....
Are you going to pull (yes with a puller, they don't just come out) out the dowel pins and lap the block? If not, then felpro it is. Is there any pitting or missing aluminum around the exhaust side cooling passages of the cylinder head? If so, felpro it is. You pretty much need the head and block in the condition it was when it rolled off the assembly line to use an HKS metal head gasket. The block is tougher than the head, seeing as the head is aluminum and the block is cast iron. The head will erode before the block will. But there WILL be "bite" marks from the factory head gasket on the block and that is why you need to lap it IF you use a metal head gasket. Have fun. |
