ball joints
What is the process on changing the ball joints on an 88 supra? Do you change the whole A arm or can it be pressed in and out?
It is actually easy you basically look on the back of the spindle and you will see a castlated nut on the bottom and the top the one on the bottom is the one you are looking for. Pull the cotter pin out and loosen the nut heres the fun part pop the stud out of the spindle and remove the three bolts from the lower A arm and the whole assembly slides out. I looked all over when I got ready to do mine they dont even actually sell ball joint to be pressed out the assembly you buy is the one you need.

TSRM is your Supra Bible. Study it for the good word !! |
hmm
So the upper balljoint is just a 300-400 dollar entire assembly then...sigh.
It was pretty easy to do, I only paid $75 for my ball joint at autozone. Definatley didn't cost $300-$400 dollars.
Were you changing the upper or the lower? The lower ball joints look like they can be bought by themselves...the upper looks like it has to be bought as an entire assembly
Oh I did the lower, I didn't realize you were talking about both.
Well the upper ball joint on the front passenger side seems to have some play in it and my suspension is about to be basically brand new. Poly bushings all the way around, bigger sway bars, eibach springs, and bilstein shocks(amazing fyi just amazing).
