Default Cam Position Sensor

I just put a new head gasket on a supra that I bought already taken apart. The person who took the head off took off the cam position sensor. I looked in the haynes manual that you have to put the rotary pin in a certain position put it doesn't tell you what position that is. Does anyone know???

Make sure to adjust the timing after the car is started, this will get you close.

This is how it should look with the base ignition timing set to 10 degrees BTDC, with the engine at TDC.

Please excuse the ugly grime everywhere, picture was taken before I tore mine down, I'm thinking on putting together a sticky about EXACTLY what the CPS looks like (including where the bolt should be in the eccentric hole of the CPS) with nice, clean, new rebuilt parts, its just too damn cold to take pictures now. Stay tuned.

thanks for all the info. I got it cranked today. It wasn't running to good though I had a little fuel leak and it was sucking air. I got the part I need on order and it will be in Sat. morning. Thanks again

Exclamation cam sensor timing

you just have to keep trying it and then turn it a lil bit and try it again. im gonna have to do it to mine when i replace my cam sensor the guy who owned it before me didnt know that you have to mark it yourself before you pull it out not even a new one has a mark.
