I have driven my slightly modded '89 N/A with the shift point button in 'Normal', and in 'Sport'.
I like it best in the 'Sport' mode. It holds each gear about 200-400rpm longer than the 'Normal' position, for the same throttle (foot) position. Also, if I am cruising along in town at, say, 45mph, and I give it a bit more throttle to get my speed up quickly, it will kick out of torque convertor lockup and zip me up there. Not so in the 'Normal' mode. You have to give it a bunch more throttle to kick off the lockup TC. I am wondering how many Automatic car drivers use the 'Sport' position full time.
