Default shifting problems

I have a 88 na supra with full exhaust headers cai and custom short shifter. whenever i'm racing or accelerating fast shifting from 1st to 2nd is hard i have to jerk on the shifter to get it in. i know my clutch is going out but would this have anything to do with this problem

Sounds like your synchronizer gears are a little tired. They make everything spin at the same speed for smooth shifting. The "cure" for that is double clutching ,Clutch - shift to neutral - release - clutch - shift to gear. Among newer circles the term also refers to a technique of downshifting (a.k.a rev. matching) to decelerate at a rate faster and more stable than just jamming on the brakes.

if u master it well then u really wont see a difference, the extra push on the pedal shuldnt take any longer than it wuld take to lets say jam ur shirter into 2nd.
