another PCV question
I don't know an awful lot about cars, and I brought my car in to get an oil change the other day (that i know how to do myself, but a carwash, a checkup and an oilchange at the dealership for $19 you can't really beat). They put some reccommendations on my bill. They recommended some new drive belts, a new cruise control cable and they noted "PCV Leaking recommends emissions service W/P"
Should I take what they say with a grain of salt or get my ass back in there and get stuff checked out. |

You can do the PCV your self.
Get a can of spray carb cleaner from wally world or parts house, 99 cent. Remove the metal tube and rubber hoses. Spray clean the tube. Spray some cleaner into the throttle body. Use some new rubber hose (3) if needed. Toyota wants too much. You can use fuel line, or A/C hose (from parts store) that fits. Heater hose will eventually (sooner than you'd like) soften up, as it is not for fuel/oil vapor. Before re-installing, place one end onto the throttlebody, place finger over one open hole, then blow into the tube to make sure the passage is open. If it does not blow easily, spray some more cleaner, then repeat the test. Now replace tube/hose assy back into position. Start car. It will probably stumble a bit from the carb spray, so rev it up a few times. |
ive done that, and oil still seems to be comming out and going onto the opening of my turbo.

Whats a catch can look like?
Is it one of those little air filters. |

It basically is just a can that goes in line with ur pcv return to catch oil that might be oxidized in the air. It flows into that can, the wieght of the oil is more dense than the air returning to the intake so it falls to the bottom of the can and the "fresh" air is returned to ur intake rather oil filled air. Heres the one i recently purchased. http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/pric...part/Universal Horsepowerfreaks has alot of good supra specific parts. If you want to get the supra specific cusco kit, its backordered like 4 weeks or something though, so i just got the universal. Hope i helped, Tony. |
