Spark plug gap/loss of power
I was hoping someone could tell me what gap my plugs should be when Im running 17-18 psi boost. Ive been having an issue with acceleration it seems to want to cut out from 3500 rpm up to 6000. Ive got all the proper equipment(walbro fuel pump, fuel pressure reg. @50 PSI, upgraded ct-26 turbo,
550 injectors, larger exhaust, Lexus AFM, metal headgasket). I did go to a local parts store and the guy told me the more you increase boost the smaller your gap should be or you will foul your plugs. Can anybody tell me if this is true? Also When I drove it today i noticed when I reached 15 psi thats when I noticed the cloud of black smoke following me and the loss of power. If anyone has experience this before let me know. Your fuel pressure is too high, that black smoke is a dead give away for running way too rich. Your base fuel pressure (with the vac line disconnected) should be set in the 30's and should increase the fp 1psi for each 1psi of boost. Running really rich like that will kill your power and your plugs.
