body shop questions
I brought my car into a body shop today because i have some 1/2 inch wide 2-3" long rust spots in my wheel well in 3 of the wheel wells. Probobly three alltogether, one in each well. Anyway, the guy said that I should do something to like, the underside of wheel well to keep it from rotting or something? He mentioned something about them going in through the vent that you see when you open the door or something? Long story short he quoted me $1017.21 and I don't understand everything. What was he talking about with the rotting and the vents and where is the thousand dollars going?

body talk
i think they were talking about undercoating b/c when i weld a patch in where rust was or if i fix a Q pannel then i always use undercoating also known as rubberizer. its cheap stuff prolly 5$ a can all i can think of is that your car is worst off than you can see. but i would go 2 about 2 more shops and get an estimate. w/o telling them the first quote. see where it gets you

Rust is cancer that never sleeps. If you have holes that big they are going to have to cut it out and weld in new metal so when you ask where the grand is going...., that's about half of it unless you want to drive around with out paint. That would be the other half, body filler, sanding, wet sanding primer, clear coat base coat. Repairing rust sucks.
