ecu diffrences?
Does anyone know for sure
If there's any diffrence between the pre89 And post89 ecu's? Cuz I am looking to buy a standalone for my mk3 And while I was looking at the catalog They only had the ff: 93-98 twin turbo 93-98 non turbo 89-92 turbo I was wondering why ddnt the pre89 cars have any available? Can anybody enlighten me with this subject |
The difference is that the 1986.5-1988 Supras have the yellow plugs and the 1989-1992 Supras have gray plugs. If you have the 1986.5-1988 Style, then I would just switch the engine wiring harness and ecu from a 89-92 Supra that has gray plugs. Hope this helps.

sorry this isnt to help you out, but i did have a question on ECU's, i've been told several dif things, and my question is when i do my transmission swap from auto to manual will i need to change ecu? I would think not from what i have heard but there are those who say yes, any info helps, thanks.

The auto ECU is fine with a manual transmission.

ive also read there's a difference in the programming. lemme try to look for it real quick.
edit: nope im wrong, or atleast i cant find it. |
no way around?
So I have no other options?
No jus cut the plugs and solder it into my harness? No jerry-riggin the d@mn thing? |
no you dont need to cut the wires. you can take the wires out of the connector. there are lil clips that hold them in there. you get something very narrow to put in there and pull the wire out. then you can put the wire into the 89+ connector, you just need to find the schematics for your year and and 89+ so you know what wire goes where.
this is just what i would do. if you want to go the other route, thats all up to you |
Alrite thnx for the help huys
Imma go treasure hunting now in the local yards |
