1jz supra tight fit turbos
I am starting the task of changing the turbos. This, of course, is a 1jzgte conversion from the 7m engine. I didn't install this engine, but the guy who did put dents in the firewall to get enough clearance for the rear turbo to fit. Now I have to find a way to remove the manifold assembly without removing the air outtake pipe on the rear turbo, which the bolts are almost touching the firewall. Has anyone tried this? Can it be done without pulling the engine? I am trying to get the last stripped bolt off the exhaust pipe and hope to have enough room to get to the exhaust manifold nuts. Wish me luck.

Your'e going to need more than luck. I don't think you can do all of that with the top half of the engine attached. But I haven't worked on your engine, I'm a 7m guy.

I think the only way to get the back pipe off is to drill a big hole in the fire wall. I should be able to get a socket on it then. Its worth a try

You may try a dremel. I know mine has helped me alot and you can get it into places that you can't get to with a drill.
Edit: If you go this route get the pencil grinder attachement. Last edited by supramacist; 04-08-2007 at 03:17 PM. |
