suspension problem

i just put some eibachs on my car with the stock struts(for now) and as i figured, they blew. im going to buy the tokico blues(i dont have TEMS). are they ok. this isn't my problem though. after i lower the car and had it aligned, they couldn't get the front passenger cam bolts to break loose. this was ok bc it wasn't off very much. that day i noticed a clunking noise from the struts(i assume its from the more stress being put on the stock struts). also i hear a popping noise from the front. it only does this when i turn the wheel all the way to the left or right and move(does it all the time) or when im coming to a stop with my wheels turned(doesnt do it all time). the guy who aligned it said it could be the cam bolts bc it could have broken loose the rust and now moving back and forth. what do you guys think? is it the ball joints?

About the struts I have the illumina 2's on mine you dont need TEMS to use them just adjust them manuely. But anyways they are great little stiff but I like my ride like that. They also look good with the eibachs. As for the clunking noise mine did that and it was the tie rod ends the right side was borke I replaced it went away. Easy way to check it remove it from the spindle and move it around if it is broke you will feel cracking inside of it they are pretty cheap. They were prolly broke and when he did the alignment it got worse.

the popping noise is worse after the alignment than before. i does it and i dont have to turn the steering wheel all the way. i doesnt do it when im driving 10+

Check TSRM for testing BJs. Check FAQs section on lower ball joint replacing. Been there, done them. Last Month.

Possibly the lower control arm bushings. There now,
http://www.suprasport.com/ has some, $150 set.

Dealer has only the whole arms, $187 each side.

You'll shoot yer I out.

If it's doing it when you roll, and your'e driving it.
It's going to get worse. This isn't the kind of thing you want going out while your'e on the bypass or interstate. I wouldn't drive it unless I had to.

But i'm the kind of guy that'll not go to work because my car is sick.

i checked the ball joints and their ok. i squirted some WD40 on the rubber stops and it hasn't made the noise since. i guess it was just a coincidence that it got worse after i aligned it

do i have to get the car realigned after i replace the struts. i just had it done when i put the eibach springs on. they couldnt get the passenger front cam bolt to loosen but they said it wasn't very far off

supra_91 04-25-2007 03:16 PM

does it need realigned

supramacist 04-25-2007 04:32 PM

I wouldn't think so if you replaced with oem.

But you will know within a mile of driving if it needs to be or not.
